Elizabeth is a 200 hour certified Hatha yoga instructor and a Level I Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Practitioner. After spending years reading yoga psychology and practicing yoga I finally decided to pursue my certification in August of 2020 after being evacuated from Peace Corps service in The Gambia. I was motivated by a desire to deepen into my practice and regain my balance in the midst of a lot of internal and external shifts.

Throughout my life I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, ADHD and the baseline trauma and exhaustion black women experience simply by existing in this body in this country. Yoga has a been such an integral part of my healing journey and an important anchor and embodiment tool for me as a survivor. It has taught me that no matter how chaotic things become internally or externally I can always return to my breath and my body. My practice is a daily exercise in taking up space and pushing myself to expand and deepen into the most authentic expression of myself.

It’s important to me that yoga is more accessible and inclusive, particularly for black women and communities of color who don’t always feel welcome in yoga spaces. It’s such a powerful tool for healing and elevation and it’s a joy and honor to share that healing and awareness with all who want to learn!

I like to focus on mindful slow movement and breathing in my classes as a way to help people to slow down and be more present in their bodies.
